Quadruple Amputee Cornhole Champion Charged in Fatal Maryland Shooting

A Maryland man known as a quadruple amputee cornhole champion is facing serious murder charges after a fatal shooting that authorities say followed an argument inside a vehicle.

According to the Charles County Sheriff's Office, 27-year-old Dayton James Webber allegedly shot and killed Bradrick Michael Wells, also 27, on Sunday night in La Plata. Investigators say the victim was seated in the front passenger seat when the shooting occurred during a dispute.

Authorities reported that two individuals sitting in the back seat witnessed the incident. Webber allegedly asked them to help dispose of the body, but they refused. The witnesses exited the vehicle and later alerted officers from the La Plata Police Department.

The victim’s body was later discovered in a yard in Charlotte Hall. Following the discovery, officials obtained an arrest warrant for Webber.

Law enforcement tracked Webber to Charlottesville, where his vehicle was located at a gas station. He was later found at a nearby hospital seeking medical treatment and was taken into custody upon release. Authorities have charged him as a fugitive and are awaiting extradition back to Maryland.

Webber is expected to face charges including first-degree murder and second-degree murder. Officials confirmed that all four individuals involved in the incident knew each other.

The case remains under active investigation, and it is currently unclear whether Webber has legal representation.

Webber had gained national attention as a professional cornhole player and competitor in events organized by the American Cornhole League. The league issued a statement expressing condolences to the victim’s family and noting the seriousness of the situation.
