A man from New York has won a $1 million prize in the Mega Millions lottery and chose the lump-sum payment option. Here’s how much he actually received.

Lottery officials announced that Jason Williams of the Bronx achieved a life-changing milestone by winning the second-tier $1 million prize in the New York Lottery’s Mega Millions draw held on June 11, 2024. Williams matched the first five numbers to claim his reward.

According to officials, after the required tax deductions, he opted for a lump-sum payment of $606,313.

The winning ticket was purchased at Three Star Candy Store, located at 1673 Metropolitan Avenue, Bronx.

That night’s winning numbers were 01, 05, 07, 22, 24, and the Mega Ball was 08.

During the 2024–2025 fiscal year, the New York Lottery’s Mega Millions game generated a total of $358,368,853 in sales. In the same period, school districts across all five boroughs received $1,427,185,199 in lottery aid to support education.
