Tata Motors, one of India’s leading automobile manufacturers, has officially revealed the Tata Harrier EV, an all-electric version of its popular Harrier SUV. The new Harrier EV made headlines at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024 and is expected to launch later in 2025. It marks Tata’s bold move into the premium electric SUV segment and promises to bring both power and sustainability to Indian roads.

The Tata Harrier EV is based on the company’s new Gen 2 EV architecture, which is a heavily modified version of the Omega Arc platform that supports electrification. The EV version features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, which is a first for Tata Motors. This setup is expected to provide excellent traction and handling in various road conditions. The SUV also includes advanced features such as regenerative braking, vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging capabilities, and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging, allowing users to share power between vehicles.
In terms of design, the Harrier EV looks very similar to the recently updated ICE version of the Harrier but with EV-specific design cues. The front fascia has a cleaner look with a blanked-off grille and sleek LED lighting. It also features new aero-efficient alloy wheels and unique color schemes, which help to differentiate it from its petrol and diesel counterparts. The SUV maintains its bold and muscular stance, which is a key appeal of the Harrier brand.
Inside, the Harrier EV is expected to be equipped with Tata’s latest infotainment and connectivity features. A 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driver display, connected car tech, wireless charging, panoramic sunroof, and ventilated seats are all likely to be part of the package. Tata is focusing on giving the Harrier EV a tech-rich and premium cabin experience to compete with other electric SUVs in the market.
Battery and range details have not been fully revealed yet, but the Harrier EV is expected to offer a driving range of over 500 kilometers on a single charge, making it ideal for long-distance travel. Fast-charging support will also be available, and Tata may bundle charging solutions through its charging network, Tata Power. Safety features like ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), six airbags, ESC, and a 360-degree camera are also expected, ensuring a secure and smart driving experience.
The Tata Harrier EV will compete with upcoming electric SUVs like the Mahindra XUV.e8 (electric XUV700) and international EVs entering the Indian market. With Tata’s growing reputation in the EV space — thanks to models like the Nexon EV and Punch EV — the Harrier EV is likely to be well-received. It combines a rugged SUV design with modern EV technology and is part of Tata’s mission to lead India’s EV revolution.
With launch expected in late 2025, the Harrier EV represents a major milestone for Tata Motors and Indian electric mobility. More details on pricing and variants will be announced closer to launch, but expectations are high for this next-generation electric SUV.
